Working Time Regulations

MDN Fusion has been watching attempts at the European Parliament to remove the facility to opt out of the 48 hour maximum weekly hours. The UK and some other states defended the opt out citing the need for businesses to be flexibility. 

Now five years of Parliamentary discussions have finally broken down. That may not be the end of the matter because it is possible for the Commission to implement removal of opt out provisions on the grounds that health and safety concerns prompted the original Directive. MDN Fusion will monitor developments.
