Perplexing Points made Simple was a half day seminar that looked at the current work permits and the new points based system to be introduced shortly.
It is serious stuff and is compulsory if you want to employ overseas workers. It is an agreement to keep records, report as required, comply with the law and co-operate with the UK Boarder Agency (UKBA).
Under the new system the responsibility will broadly shift to employers from the UKBA to check and verify the eligibility of migrant workers. In addition the consequences of failing to comply with the new law to combat illegal employment (could be up to £10,000 civil penalities) were made clear, as were steps to be taken to avoid them.
