New Employment Bill

The Governments much heralded “flagship” Employment Bill has started is passage through the Parliamentary process. As expected it includes repeal of the Statutory Dispute Procedures (discipline, dismissal, and grievances) that would be replaced by a new ACAS Code and measures and penalties at Employment Tribunals to encourage use of the Code. Other provisions include protection for vulnerable workers, new powers in respect of the National Minimum Wage and employment agencies. The Government hopes that the Bill will be passed in summer. However much of the detail and the timescales remain to be seen as most of the Bill’s measures will come into force through secondary legislation (regulations).
